In an ironic-poetic lecture performance, I slip into the role of a scientist from the year 2126, excavating the remains of the bygone Plastic Age — the site of the excavation is precisely the exhibition space.
The finds, air-dried clay replicas of former plastic objects, are at once fossils, relics and script of a civilisation that choked on its own waste.
Moving between pseudo-scientific reconstruction, myth and the deciphering of a forgotten language of symbols, the work asks: what remains of us — and what do we wish to leave behind?
