The title Polisémicas — Spanish for polysemous or many-meaninged — refers to the concept of polysemy: the capacity of signs and words to carry several meanings at once. The exhibition at Galería Arte Acción in Mexico City brought together artistic positions devoted precisely to this ambiguity, refusing unambiguous legibility and opening up spaces of meaning between material, form and association. Within this context, the work 2 Gotas de Sangre was shown — two red ceramic sculptures that rest in the space like drops of blood. Their fluid, organic forms and intense red glaze lend the two objects a bodily presence that oscillates between attraction and unease. Like the title of the exhibition itself, the two drops carry multiple readings within them: they may be read as a trace, an offering, an origin or a transformation — their meaning remains fluid, unresolvable, polysemous.
