I have to change my life, an experience

Abstract: The New Village Project is a work of research and lived experience set at the very threshold where a wistful counter-movement is currently taking shape: the flight from the city. It is the desire to exchange urban life for nature, stillness and a more self-determined existence. The report asks what lies behind this movement – exhaustion, utopia, ecological awareness, or a return to an older knowledge of living with the land and the seasons. The text explores what newcomers hope to find and what long-standing villagers already know: that rural life is not a blank canvas for projection, but a mature and many-layered way of living. Out of this encounter emerges a lively dialogue about belonging, utopia, and the question of how the village might be reimagined as a shared place.
